Letter from Terence McGuire, NASA’s lead psychiatrist to Taibi Kahler – Feb 2010

Hi Taibi,

This is to confirm in writing something you and I have discussed in the past. While functioning as NASA’s lead psychatrist for manned space flight, I predicted significant crew friction between selected crew members on five occasions. The primary source of friction was commonly someone imposed upon the flight for political reasons. In four of the five instances, the conflict became visible in-flight. In the fifth instance, a crew member deemed vulnerable to the activities of the prime provocateur volunteered to me post-flight. ( I had tried to “immunize” him pre-flight): ” One more day and I’d have killed him”. In each case, the behavioral prediction were based upon what I had learned from you and the studies of Process Communication through which you guided me.

With respect and appreciation,
Terence F. McGuire MD”
