Definition

Individual coaching is a support process between two people. This method for progression and fulfillment has been known for millennia in civilizations as different as ancient Greece and various Eastern civilizations.

For us Westerners, Socrates is one of the most recognized references. The Socratic discussion that is literally the art of childbirth lets customers “give birth” to their ideas and mobilize their personal resources to move ahead.

This practice that is widely used in sports is practiced routinely in today’s businesses.

For a deeper understanding of coaching and what it can do, we have grouped the answers to the most frequently asked questions in a document.

This support can also be provided in teams. The rules and practices are different, but the objective remains the same, which is to allow the expression and clarification of ideas and mobilize resources collectively.

The applications in the company

How coaching is applied in a business very different. Below are some examples:

  • Nomination of a new manager (individual) or for a new management team (team).
  • Definition and approach to Change (individual and group).
  • Definition of a VISION for a company/project (individual and group).
  • Support for a merger/acquisition (group).
  • Crisis management (individual and group).
  • Preparing people with high potential to take top positions in the company.
  • Support at work in a multicultural environment (individual and group).
  • Improving well being in the company by lowering stress levels (individual and group).

Our practice

All associated Hommes et Projets consultants are certified coaches. Their practices fall within the general framework of our Code of Ethics in terms of rules of ethics of the coaching profession (See details of Hommes et Projets’ Code of Ethics).

In terms of professionalism, our practices include:

  • The definition of a coaching contract includes a reminder of the context and objectives of the coaching process as well as the commitments of the coach, particularly in terms of cost.
  • For coaching required by the hierarchy, an interview with three people (coachee, coach and supervisor) at the beginning (objectives) and end (debriefing and plan of action) of the process.
  • A systematic satisfaction survey that helps us improve our practices.
  • When necessary, we practice global coaching. This form of coaching involves having the coached person or team work with several coaches as needed.
  • We also practice situational coaching. This form of coaching makes it possible to support a company (and many of its members) on the ground.
